The first step in the restructuring of the Department of Human Services is complete. Roger Munns, a spokesman for the D-H-S, says the eight managers have been hired for the new service areas that were laid out in the re-organization plan. Munns says they’re still working out ways to continue providing service to everyone. He says part of the restructuring calls for many of the counties to have a part-time presence in their offices, and he says they’re trying to do that without affecting service. He says the re-organization is slowly being put into place. He says they need to get everything in place by the time the new fiscal year begins in July. The eight new service areas are headquartered in Waterloo, Ames, Dubuque, Council Bluffs, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Des Moines and Sioux City.
