The Iowa Hawkeyes have fallen out of the nation’s top 25 this week after Saturday’s loss to Purdue. The 73-68 loss to the Boilermakers has the Hawkeyes at 3-5 at the midway point of the Big Ten race. On today’s Big Ten teleconference, Hawkeye coach Steve Alford said there were a number of reasons for the disappointing first half. He says they’ve never been in a good rhythm and haven’t been able to consistently guard people.Alford says the Hawkeyes are also committing far too many turnovers. Alford says he’s also doing a poor job of communicating to the players what he wants to accomplish.Alford says while the Hawks are inexperienced at point guard, that spot has not been the concern with turnovers.
