A central Iowa road construction firm’s twin-engine airplane crashed Wednesday night.The plane owned by Manatts of Brooklyn, Iowa, crashed in a cornfield around 6:30 p-m near the Ames airport after clipping a power line and pulling down around 30 power poles. Two pilots and five passengers were on board — all were able to walk away with no serious injuries. It’s unclear if weather was a factor in the crash. Federal investigators will be at the scene today. Several area residents were without power due to the downed power lines.
