February 5, 2002 By admin

A former Central-Elkader guidance counselor has been found guilty of simple assault for touching a student. The jury deliberated several hours before finding 54-year-old Steven Reagen guilty in the first of two trials. The former counselor allegedly touched two female students under their clothing. One of the students testified against Reagen in the first trial, saying he held her, kissed her and touched her under her clothing in his school office. Reagen countered that he was only consoling the girl. He faces a sentence of 30 days in jail and a 500 dollar fine. Reagen resigned his job in November.
