The World Pork Expo 2002 edition is on. Pork producers cancelled last year’s affair due to concerns about the potential spread of foot and mouth disease. Iowa Ag Secretary Patty Judge says canceling the 2001 World Pork Expo was the right decision, as they would have had to take too many precautions. No special precautions will be imposed for this year’s event. Judge says the World Pork Expo’s big business. Judge says Iowa’s pork producers raise over 90-million hogs each year. The 2002 World Pork Expo will be held on the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines on June 6th, 7th and 8th. About 50-thousand people are expected. “Hooray for the Red, White and Blue” is the theme of this year’s Expo — red for ribs, white for pork — the other white meat, and blue for jeans.
