Weighty book features Dyersville

February 5, 2002 By admin

The Iowa town known for metal toys and the Field of Dreams may soon have a new claim to fame. A new book about the Dyersville community weight loss program was released Monday and will be on bookstore shelves everywhere within the next few weeks. It’s called “The Town that Lost a Ton” and details how more than 380 Dyersville residents lost some four thousand pounds in 1998. The town’s Fight the Fat wellness education program uses the buddy system to motivate teams of six to ten people to lose weight and adopt healthier lifestyles.
