Mason City High tight end Scott Rairdon made it official Wednesday as he signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Notre Dame. The 6-foot-7 285-pound senior had verbally committed to play for the Irish last summer, but a whirlwind of coaching changes did not affect his decision.Rairdon says he had some thoughts about switching schools, but knows he’s made the right choice. He says Notre Dame officials called him and reassured him when the coaching problems started.Rairdon says he talked with Notre Dame’s new coach Tyrone Willingham and approves of the school’s hiring. Rairdon expects to end up in Notre Dame’s offensive line. He says they haven’t said a lot about his position, but he thinks it’ll be tackle.Rairdon caught 12 passes for 125 yards and three touchdowns in helping lead the Mohawks to their first playoff appearance in 15 years.
