State offers scholarship for study in Japan

Iowans who have some Japanese language skills are being offered a scholarship to study in Iowa’s sister state in Japan, but the deadline to apply is only a few days away. Phil Latessa, executive director of Iowa Sister States, says the scholarship is a one-year full-ride.The scholarship covers: airfare, housing, tuition for auditing courses, insurance, book fees, travel expenses and other perks, including a bicycle. Latessa says Iowans who apply for the scholarship need to meet a few key qualifications.The Iowan who is chosen will be spending a year in the Yamanashi prefecture of Japan. Latessa says the deadline for applying is the close of business February 11th, next Monday.For more information, call Latessa at (515) 242-4914 or send email to “[email protected]”.
