A viral illness is giving Cedar Rapids health officials all they can handle. It’s called R-S-V and it’s a respiratory virus that’s like a bad cold and it can last for three weeks. It’s apparently quite contagious and is hitting eastern Iowans hard. A Cedar Rapids hospital reports 99 cases of R-S-V last month alone. Doctors say it’s particularly dangerous for infants and young children. Symptoms include: fever, runny nose, coughing and shortness of breath.
