Trout, ice cream and chewy oatmeal bars were among the items being sampled at the statehouse today at the “Taste of Iowa” event. Iowa Department of Economic Development director C-J Niles was caught with her mouth full as she ate Iowa food. Niles says the event was cooked up to promote Iowa-made products that’re available in your local grocery store. Niles says most stores post a “Taste of Iowa” logo on the shelf right beside the Iowa-grown or Iowa-made stuff. She says buying Iowa products helps Iowans. The “Taste of Iowa” showcase was held over the noon-hour.
