O’Donnell trial moved out of Black Hawk County

February 13, 2002 By admin

A change of venue’s been granted in the first-degree murder trial of Benjamin O’Donnell, the Evansdale man accused of killing Tracy Carson of Waterloo. A judge ordered O’Donnell’s trial be moved to Scott County because of publicity, after a sample jury was tested to see if O’Donnell could get a fair trial in Black Hawk County. Carson disappeared in October 2000 after leaving a Waterloo bar where she was celebrating her 40th birthday. Her body was found last April near a creek in rural Black Hawk County, and O’Donnell was charged with murder last June.
