Iowa looks to start late run that could extend season

February 19, 2002 By admin

Two teams headed in opposite directions matchup tonight as Iowa visits Wisconsin in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes are just a game ahead of last place Penn State with a 4-9 conference record.Iowa coach Steve Alford says it does not get any easier against the Badgers.Alford says the focus for the Hawkeyes must now shift to the conference post-season tournament, as he says if they can continue getting better, then maybe they can get on a roll and win the tournament again to keep their season going. While the Hawks have been disappointing, the Badgers have been a surprise and stand 9-5 in the Big Ten after back-to-back road victories at Indiana and Minnesota.Badger coach Bo Ryan, says the way Iowa is playing right now won’t make a difference in how they prepare.
