Two techs from Gateway’s North Sioux City facility have been sent to Afghanistan to establish a computer link for U-S troops. Gateway spokesman Brad Williams says the two men are stationed at the Kandahar airport.The Gateway CyberSpot Outpost in Kandahar lets U-S and coalition troops send video e-mail to athletes in Salt Lake and to their families back home. Williams says the techs are in a military zone. The Gateway techs are wearing flak jackets, and the base where they’re stationed came under light fire last week. Williams says Steve Olson and Bruce Young volunteered for the assignment.Olson, one of the techs who went to Afghanistan, served in the 101st Airborne during the Gulf War, and the 101st is the unit the Gateway techs are working with.
