The state high school wrestling tournament resumed today with quarterfinal round action.Defending champion Lewis Central moved to the lead in the class 3A team chase heading into tonight’s semifinal round which will feature a number of marquee matchups. One of those is at 119-pounds. Mason City’s Ryan Osgood is looking for a second straight title after a 7-3 win over Alan Fadness of Decorah early today. Osgood took the lead with a first period takedown and was hoping to build a larger advantage.Osgood will battle 38-3 Kyle Anson of Iowa City High in tonight’s semifinal. It will be their third meeting after trading one-point wins. Also in 3A, Iowa City High’s Johnny Galloway kept his bid alive for a third straight title with a 20-8 victory over Joe Meyer of Newton at 160-pounds. Galloway started quickly by recording five takedowns in the first period.In the team chase, Lewis Central has 51-points. Iowa City High is second, two points back and first day leader Oskaloosa has fallen to third. In class 1A, two time state champion Mack Reiter from Gilbertville Don Bosco advanced to the semifinal round at 112-pounds by pinning Brett Ray of Orient-Macksburg. Reiter took command early in the match and says that was his goal coming into the tournament.Don Bosco leads the 1A team race after the quarterfinal round.
