Autopsies planned in what appears to be a murder-suicide

February 25, 2002 By admin

Autopsies are planned for today on three bodies found in a house near St. Charles after a weekend fire was extinguished. Investigators suspect it’s a case of double-murder suicide, but haven’t released details. The dead are identified as 94-year-old Edith Bice and a couple who’d lived in her home about a year as hired care-givers, 28-year-old Howard Iseton and his common-law wife, 23-year-old Rachael Talli. Madison County Sheriff Paul Welch won’t say how he thinks any of the three died until after the autopsies are complete.Sheriff Welch says he does -not- think anyone else was involved in the deaths but hasn’t ruled out the possibilty. Reports say a young boy is being questioned who was apparently in the home before the fire started. His name hasn’t been released. Saint Charles is about 15 miles south of Des Moines.
