Iowa has week off before last game

February 25, 2002 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeyes will take the week off before closing out the regular season on Saturday at Michigan State. The Hawkeyes closed out their home season on a positive note with a 76-56 win over Michigan, which ensured the Hawks a winning season. Iowa coach Steve Alford says all the areas they have struggled during conference play turned around against the Wolverines. The Hawks said goodbye to five seniors and while this season has been disappointing Alford says there have been a number of positives. He says the seniors have worked hard and most of them will graduate, they won a Big Ten Tournament Championship and haven’t lost a non-conference home game.Alford says the week off will be good to prepare for the Spartans.
