The highest-ranking Latino in the Bush administration is taking a pass at commenting on the bill seeking to make English Iowa’s official language. Rosario Marin is the first Mexican-born individual to become the Secretary of the U-S Treasury.She says as a federal official, she’s not allowed to get involved in state issues. The “English Only” bill is being debated in the legislature today. Marin is in Marshalltown to talk with several Hispanic groups on behalf of the Republican Party.She says she’s been very well recieved during her visits to an elementary school and local businesses. Marin says it looks like the recession in the United States is turning around.Marin says there are encouraging signs from the leading economic indicators and she expects a fast recovery. Marin says the programs to create jobs pushed by her boss are important to the recovery.Marin is scheduled to visit a meat packing plant this afternoon.
