Drake men find themselves in a new position heading into tourney time

Drake and Northern Iowa will prepare for the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference tournament in St. Louis. Drake grabbed the sixth seed after shocking co-champion Creighton 75-73 last night. The Bulldogs are 14-14 overall and coach Kurt Kanaskie says his team has picked the right time of the season to play its best.As the sixth-seed they are still a long shot but Kanaskie says they are approaching the tournament as if they can win it.Kanaskie says for his team the Valley tournament is like the N-C-A-A tournament. He says they know if they lose, the season is done.Drake plays Illinois State in Saturday night’s quarterfinal round. U-N-I is the seventh seed after dropping an 86-74 decision at Wichita State last night. The Panthers will play tenth seeded Evansville in Friday night’s play in round.
