Monticello man pleads guilty to check fraud

A Monticello man has pleaded guilty to fraud in a check scheme between two Jones County banks.49-year-old Allen Arduizer made the plea during an appearance Wednesday in U-S District Court. He’s accused of running a check scheme between the Union Planters Bank in Monticello and the Citizens Savings Bank in Anamosa during fall 2000. An investigation by the U-S Attorney’s Office revealed the Monticello bank lost nearly 30-thousand dollars during the period. If convicted Arduizer could face up to 30-years in prison and a million-dollar fine. Sentencing will take place on May 28.
