Northwest Iowa man loses appeal in homicide case

A northwest Iowa man has lost his appeal of a vehicular homicide conviction. Tyrone Rush Lindsay was driving a car in September 2000 when he lost control on a road in rural Osceola County and a passenger was killed. Lindsay’s blood alcohol level was over the legal limit, and he was tried for vehicular homicide. Lindsay appealed his conviction, saying his case was prejudiced because a cop testified that when Lindsay was arrested, his wife told cops her husband wasn’t home, but they found him hiding in a closet. Lindsay also claimed his attorney made mistakes, but the Iowa Court of Appeals rejected that argument, and rejected Lindsay’s complaint about allowing his hiding-in-the-closet episode into evidence.
