Evansdale fire chief demoted and suspended

March 15, 2002 By admin

In the Waterloo suburb of Evansdale, the fire chief who was put on leave last fall has been demoted and suspended. Pete Weber was suspended until an investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was finished. Irregularities were found in one of the fire department’s expense accounts, but details were not released. Weber’s wife and daughter, who also worked for the fire department, were both placed on administrative leave as well in November. Lois Weber has since been fired. Ken Smock, a 26-year veteran of the fire department, is now chief.
