Woman charged with stealing from one man to marry another

March 21, 2002 By admin

A Quad City woman who was apparently engaged to two men at once likely won’t be marrying anybody for a while.Davenport police have arrested a woman who they say took money from one fiancée and gave it to another fiancée. 23-year-old Melissa Talbot of Moline, Illinois, is in Scott County Jail. She is charged with first-degree theft and forgery. Police say Talbot took three signed checks totaling $40,000 from the first man to pay for their wedding preparations. They say she then made the checks payable to the second man and deposited them into his bank account. The money was used to buy wedding rings for Talbot and the second man.
