Livestock regulation bill scheduled for debate this week

April 1, 2002 By admin

A bill that’d establish tougher state regulators for large-scale livestock units is scheduled for debate this week in the legislature. Republicans control the legislature’s debate agenda, and they have two priorities for the remaining days of the 2002 session: putting the finishing touches on the next, very lean state budget and passing that livestock bill. House Republican Leader Christopher Rants of Sioux City says the bill that’s been presented isn’t perfect, but he says “doing nothing is not acceptable.”
