Governor continues to threaten budget veto

April 6, 2002 By admin

Next week may be the final week of the 2002 legislative session, and democrat Governor Tom Vilsack says he’s willing to veto the budget plan republicans develop if it doesn’t spend enough on education. Vilsack says republicans’ education plan will lead to pay cuts for many teachers and a rollback of progress in lowering class sizes in the early elementary grades.Vilsack says the G-O-P plan also short-changes some human services programs.
