Cedar Falls wins national honor

April 8, 2002 By admin

A town in northeastern Iowa is winning national recognition today. Cedar Falls is being named a “Great American Main Street” Award-winner today in Fort Worth, Texas, for revitalizing its downtown. The work in Cedar Falls began in 1987 when many buildings were vacant or boarded up. Now, business occupancy is nearly full and more than 200 jobs have been created. Five other Iowa communities have won the award: Elkader, Corning, Bonaparte, Dubuque and Keokuk.
