Seven top administrators from universities in Africa, Europe and South America have arrived at the University of Iowa. The delegation is in Iowa City to learn more about higher education in America. One of their hosts says communication shouldn’t be very difficult.Tom Baldridge, executive director of CIVIC, the Council for International Visitors to Iowa Cities, says all of the visitors should speak English. Baldridge says they’ll meet with U-of-I administrators and students, they’ll see classrooms, libraries, laboratories and resource centers.The group is interested in learning about the operation of a state university and how to improve teaching, encourage research and help groom young staff members for future responsibilities. Baldridge says the U-of-I has a lot to offer.The visitors arrived Thursday and will be in Iowa City through the weekend. They are from: Ethiopia, Malawi, Peru, Russia, Sierra Leone, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.
