Waterloo man admits to receiving benefits for his dead mother

April 16, 2002 By admin

A Waterloo man has pled guilty to collecting his mom’s pension benefits for several months after she died. 42-year old Reed Roberts pleaded guilty to failing to notify Social Security officials so he could keep receiving his mother’s checks. He admitted to illegally collecting the benefits of 86-hundred dollars from August of 1999 through June of last year. Roberts also admitted to fraudulently obtaining nearly 37-thousand dollars in pension benefits from John Deere in the same manner. Roberts faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a 250-thousand dollar fine.
