Bar faces charges for burning booze incident

April 30, 2002 By admin

An Iowa City bar is now facing charges for a burning booze stunt. Nine college students were injured April 18th when bartenders poured alcohol on the bar and lit it on fire at the bar called “Et. Cetera”. A charge of reckless use of fire has been filed against 26-year-old Troy Kline, a bartender from Coralville. The business has also been charged with using an open flame in a business establishment. Both charges are simple misdemeanors. Iowa City Fire Chief Roger Jensen says his investigation determined none of the bar patrons were involved, as had been claimed. Two students have also filed a lawsuit against the bar.
