The republican candidate for state Ag Secretary is criticizing the way the current Secretary of Agriculture is handling budget cuts. Democrat Ag Secretary Patty Judge has ordered meat and poultry inspectors to take a day-long, unpaid furlough May 24th, and John Askew of Thurman, the G-O-P candidate running for Judge’s job, has a big beef with that. He says the furloughs will harm businesses the most.He says it will force the 112 meat processing facilities in Iowa to quit preparing sausage, hamburger and other meat products for the busy Memorial Day weekend.
