FBI identifies suspect in mailbox bombings

May 7, 2002 By admin

A suspect in the mail bombs in Iowa and four other states is believed to be from the Midwest. Officials at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonee, Wisconsin, confirm the F-B-I has requested all the student records of Twenty-one-year-old Luke John Helder. University spokesman John Enger says the student body has been notified about the investigation and the all-points bulletin on Helder. Enger says they don’t believe Helder is in Wisconsin and have told students they’re in no danger. Enger says Helder is a junior majoring in art with an industrial design concentration. The campus directory lists Helder’s hometown as Pine Island, Minnesota. Helder’s name turns up on the website for a garage band called “Apathy,” which recorded a song titled “Conformity.”The Website, by the way, was shut down after Helder’s name was announced and traffic on the site became too heavy.
