Suit filed over McGregor golf course

May 9, 2002 By admin

A lawsuit has been filed in Clayton county district court claiming the county board of supervisors violated the state’s open meetings law when it authorized a payment of 90-thousand dollars to the city of McGregor to help finance the purchase of land for a new golf course. Three county residents filed the suit. The project is funded in part by a five-million-dollar Vision Iowa grant. The three are asking a judge to void the payment because the board didn’t give proper public notice of the meeting. They’re also asking for the county to pay their court costs.
