Suspicious bomb-like device found in Sioux City

May 9, 2002 By admin

Authorities say a “suspicious device” found at a Sioux City residence this morning is probably not another in the string of pipe bombs left in mailboxes starting nearly a week ago. Larry Holmquist is with the F-B-I office in Omaha.Holmquist doubts there is any connection to last week’s string of pipe bombs throughout the Midwest. He says based on the description of the device, it doesn’t look like the other bombs.Sioux City police blocked off the area on the city’s west side after the device was reported, and both the F-B-I and federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms joined the investigation.
