The University of Iowa baseball team lost the first game, but swept the next three games against Illinois this weekend to secure a spot in the Big Ten post-season tournament. It’s the first tournament appearance for Iowa coach Scott Broghamer, and the first for the Hawks since 1990.Broghamer doesn’t think the gut-wrenching three games needed to get into the tourney have left his team spent. He says his team is confident and has been able to keep the flow going. He says the team feels invincible after staving off the end of the season so many times. And he says there’s no need for extra motivation now that they’re in the tourney.Broghamer says making the tourney will help the team in a lot of ways.He says it’ll give confidence to the guys coming back, and give a boost to recruiting, as potential recruits will see Iowa can compete in the conference. The fifth seeded Hawks meet fourth seed Indiana Wednesday at noon in Minneapolis. Iowa is 26-27-1 overall and finished at 15-16 in the conference.
