Davenport police investigate possible murder

Davenport police are looking into a possible murder on this Memorial Day. Police say the body of a 35-year-old woman was found early this morning in a gully that connects with the Mississippi River near Credit Island. Captain Dave Struckman says the body was found near an encampment of homeless people. He says the status of the person is unknown.Captain Struckman could not yet release the woman’s name. Struckman says it’s unclear how the woman died but the case -is- being treated as a homicide pending an autopsy.Witnesses are still being interviewed and one person is being held as a possible suspect, pending further investigation.
