Top teams hold on in second RI/Coaches baseball poll

The top teams are holding steady in the early going of the Radio Iowa/Coaches Association baseball poll. The largest schools saw the most changes in the second week of the poll. Iowa City High and Marshalltown stayed at one and two, but Dubuque Wahlert moved up to third from fourth, West Des Moines Dowling also moved up one position to occupy the vacated fourth spot. West Des Moines Valley is up from seventh to fifth. Lewis Central dropped from third to sixth, followed by Urbandale, Cedar Rapids Kennedy. New to the poll in 4A are Council Bluffs T.J., and North Scott. Class 3A saw all three of the top five teams stay the same. Sioux City Heelan is number one, Cedar Rapids Xavier second, followed by Denison, Oelwein and Davenport Assumption round out the top five. In Class 2A, Emmetsburg is top ranked. Dyersville-Beckman switched places with Eagle Grove in the second and third spot, Cascade is up to fourth place after opening at number seven, and Council Bluffs St. Albert held onto the fifth spot. No changes in the Class 1A poll. Granville Spalding is top ranked, followed by Mason City Newman, LeMars Gehlen, Lansing Kee and North Iowa to round out the top five.
