Teen will testifiy in Zappa case

June 6, 2002 By admin

A teenager allegedly kidnapped by Anthony Zappa will testify at his trial. Also known as Anthony Wright, he became the subject of a manhunt after he escaped from custody in Minneapolis early last year. The lookout for the man described as armed and desperate shut down the Mall of America for a day, and he allegedly held a shootout with law-enforcement officers who spotted him in Iowa. His trail led through Louisiana, Colorado, and other states where prosecutors say they collected evidence from thirteen crime sites. In Nebraska he’s accused of kidnapping 17-year-old Ann Sluti from a shopping-mall parking lot in Kearney. Prosecutors say Sluti, who calmly talked her way to freedom after a ten-hour standoff at a Montana cabin, will testify next week.
