UNI catcher drafted by Angels

June 6, 2002 By admin

University of Northern Iowa senior catcher Alex Dvorsky of Marion was drafted in the second round of the Major League draft Wednesday by Anaheim. Dvorsky says the Angels had scouted him and kept in contact and it was great to see them follow through with the draft call.He says there’s just a little disappointment in waiting through one day of the draft as everyone wants to be chosen in the first round. But he says that happens. It won’t be long before Dvorsky resumes playing ball, he’ll be leaving soon for Arizona for a mini-camp.Dvorsky could end up playing back near his hometown sometime in the future as the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League are an Angels affiliate.
