Two safety-related groups are seeking groups of kids to help increase seatbelt awareness. Shari Burgus is a spokesperson for “Farm Safety 4 Just Kids.”She says they’re looking for kids to do an educational program and a program to recognize kids who wear their seatbelt. Burgus says her group is teaming up with the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau to help kids.They call the program “Buckle up or Eat Glass,” and they’re looking for kids that between seventh and tenth grade. She says they’re targeting kids who’ll soon be driving, or have just started driving. Burgus says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has identified the kids who don’t usually buckle up. They found African Americans, Hispanics and rural kids were least likely to buckle up. Burgus says they’ll help the kids get the program going.She says they supply information, brochures, give aways and a financial incentive at the completion of the project.
