Murder suspect makes short-lived escape

June 13, 2002 By admin

A murder suspect was captured Wednesday an hour-and-a-half after he escaped from a southeast Iowa jail. 31-year-old Ricardo McGlothlen was being held in the Davis County Jail for the May murder of 58-year-old Robert Carter. McGlothlen was able to slip through his cell door in an opening used to pass through meal trays. After 90 minutes, McGlothlen was found hiding under the porch of a house in Bloomfield. Both McGlothlen and Carter were transients from Oklahoma who were staying at a Bloomfield home at the time of the shooting.
