June 15, 2002 By admin

There won’t quite be 76 trombones, but there will be plenty of other shining, blaring horns as the Grand Celebration of Brass Bands gets underway in Cedar Rapids later this morning. Vicki Hughes is spokeswoman for the Ushers Ferry Historic Village, where the celebration starts at 11 A-M. Each band will play two completely different concerts.Hughes says brass bands are coming from across the Midwest to take part in the musical celebration. She says a wide variety of music will be played by the brass bands during the eight hours of concerts. For more information, call (319) 286-5763 or go to “www.cedar-rapids.org/ushers”.
