Two Iowa high schoolers are in the nation’s capital today, showing off their mechanical prowess. The student auto skills competition is this morning and Triple-A’s Mantill Williams says the event has changed as cars have gotten more high-tech over the years. He says they’re called auto technicians because the cars now have computers in them and require technicians to have computer skills.Two-member teams from across the U-S are competing for millions in prizes and scholarships as they try to fix a car with several planted problems. Williams says the competition encourages students to get into the auto tech industry.The Iowans are 18-year-olds Bryan Stocker and David Courtright from Des Moines Central Campus High School.
