Man charged with attempted murder in Davenport stabbings

Two counts of attempted murder have been filed against an ex-con who is incustody following stabbings early Tuesday morning in Davenport. 38-year-old Elmer A. Moore, Jr. is in Scott County Jail. He also is chargedwith one count each of first-degree burglary and third-degree burglary.Moore is accused of stabbing 38-year-old Karen Hudson and her 13-year-oldson, Alphonse Martin, after breaking into their home. They both remainhospitalized. Police reports said Hudson identified the attacker as an estranged boyfriend. Officials say Moore has a lengthy record for burglary, forgery and escape. He came to Davenport after serving a 10-year term in an Oklahoma prison. He was released May 24.
