Davenport transit official arrested

June 24, 2002 By admin

An eastern Iowa transit official has been arrested for the alleged theft of more than 47-hundred dollars. 38-year-old Charles Lowery was the general manager of Davenport Citi-Bus. He is an employee of First Transit, a contractor the city hired in 2001 to manage the city’s bus transportation system. An audit shows cash and checks from the sale of bus passes is missing. And police say they found evidence — including checks from missing deposits — in Lowery’s car and office. Police say Lowery admits the money once was in his office but that he misplaced it.
