Jury selection begins for Iowa man accused of killing trooper

The eastern Iowa man charged in the death of an Illinois law officer is headed to court.Nine jurors were seated Monday for the first-degree murder trial of a Davenport man. 21-year-old Jonathan Posey is charged in the June 23, 2001, dragging death of Sgt. Stanley Talbot, an Illinois State trooper. He also faces felony counts of reckless homicide and failure to report an injury accident. Talbot died after being dragged by a car fleeing a safety checkpoint in Rock Island, Ill. After Talbot fell from a car that police say Posey was driving, the trooper was run over by a Rock Island police officer who was following. Posey has pleaded innocent to the charges and is jailed on $2.5 million bail. Jury selection continues today, and the trial begins Wednesday morning.
