Iowa’s Attorney General is asking the Iowa Supreme Court to take another look at their ruling involving taxes on Iowa casinos. The high court ruled June 12th the Iowa law taxing racetrack slot machines at a higher rate than riverboat slot machines was unconstitutional. Bob Brammer, a spokesman for the Attorney General, says they want the court to reconsider.Brammer says they asked for a re-hearing because they think the court made a “very rare” mistake. The ruling could cost the state millions of dollars in revenue at a time when the budget is already tight. Brammer says they believe the Supreme Court overstepped its bounds. He says they argue that the Supreme Court has intruded into matters that the law has for many years left to the legislature. Brammer says they have no idea when the Supreme Court might issue a decision on the petition.
