Abortion turf war heats up in the Quad Cities

June 28, 2002 By admin

A turf war is developing in the battle over abortion in the Quad Cities. After operating for months in a temporary trailer, a permanent Women’s Choice Center opens Monday in Bettendorf — right across the street from the controversial Planned Parenthood clinic it is intended to counter. Life and Family Coalition has been raising money to pay for the Women’s Choice Center since Planned Parenthood opened its clinic in 1999. The new center, which has a staff chaplain and on-site chapel, offers pregnancy information and tests plus information and counseling regarding abortion and adoption. It does not offer birth control or abortions. Planned Parenthood’s clinic does offer birth control plus surgical and medication-induced abortions.
