Sioux City educator feels voucher ruling will lead to slow changes

June 28, 2002 By admin

The U-S Supreme Court has ruled that using taxpayer money for school vouchers is legal. Sioux City Superintendant Larry Williams says changes due to the ruling will happen slowly.Williams says he believes the will of the community will push education to improve.Supporters say the vouchers are a way to give poor kids a way out of failing public schools. Opponents say it takes money away from the public schools, and violates the separation of church and state since it would send public money to religious schools.
