Davenport police have arrested the former financial director of the city-owned RiverCenter convention center and Adler Theatre. 25-year-old Ryan Bruder is charged with second-degree theft. He worked for Compass Facility Management Inc. of Ames, which is under contract with the city to manage the complex. Compass discovered in May that nearly $14,000 had been misappropriated. Police say Bruder has admitted using a RiverCenter/Adler check of nearly $3,000 to pay his personal Mastercard bill in June of 2001. They say he also used a RiverCenter/Adler credit card to pay for a personal hotel stay at a resort in Galena, Illinois. Compass placed Bruder on leave in May. He resigned in June. Mike Hartman, who managed the RiverCenter and Adler for Compass, also resigned. No charges have been filed against him. Compass made restitution of the missing money to the city and paid for an independent audit of the complex.
