North Iowa athletic director, coach, laid to rest

The funeral for a north Iowa coach and athletic director is today. Services are this morning 60-year-old Doug Halstead. Halstead was the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock athletic director, softball and girl’s track coach. He died June 28th in a car accident. Halstad was instrumental in establishing the girls softball and volleyball programs at Rockford Senior. He had an overall record in softball of 617-386, which was 12th all-time on the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union coaches win list.
