Mason City man indicted in death of teen

July 5, 2002 By admin

A Cerro Gordo County grand jury has indicted a Mason City man for contributing to the death of a teenager in May. 26-year-old Timothy Charles Cassidy was indicted Wednesday for supplying alcohol to a minor, which is a Class “D” felony. 17-year-old John Nauss was found dead on the south side of the Winnebago River after friends camping with him along the river on May 18th had not seen him in over 24 hours. The Cerro Gordo County medical examiner’s office determined that drowning was the cause of death, with alcohol being involved. If convicted, Cassidy faces up to five years in prison and a fine between $750 and $75-hundred. Cassidy’s arraignment is scheduled for July 22nd in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
